Google's Android Pay now works with mobile banking apps

This latest collaboration with banks expands Android Pay's capabilities as an open platform and moves us closer toward our goal of empowering mobile payments everywhere.

Lastly, Google points out that the Android Pay integration with banking apps works even if users don't have the standalone Android Pay app installed.

The really cool news here is that Google is making a lot of progress with Android Pay. But after failing to gain much traction with it, Google introduced Android Pay in 2015.

Before now, if you wanted to use Android Pay, you had to download the application from the Play Store and then manually add your credit and/or debit cards.

Even if you don't have the Android Pay app on your phone, the supported mobile banking apps can also be used for payments.

That means mom or dad can be an iPhone user, but still manage their child's screen time, daily usage limits, set "bedtimes" and more, for their kids who use Android. The company is partnering with a few banking institutions to make it easier to use your cards with Android Pay. This could spark their interest to try out Android Pay for the first time and, if all goes well, continue using it in the future.

Most tech companies like Samsung, Apple and Google have been trying to push their mobile payment services to users, but widespread adoption is yet to be achieved. Naturally, if you can use this feature from within your own mobile banking app, it will entice you to try it out since you do not have to worry about manually going between both apps. This new step marks another evolution in Google's solution to contactless payments. Once these details added they can be used easily to make payment at stores, on the web wherever the Android Pay button is available.
