MP CM launches 'tiffin diplomacy' at cabinet meeting

An official communication asking ministers in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government to carry their lunch to the Cabinet meeting, scheduled to be held here on Tuesday, has taken many by surprise. "This unique experiment of bringing tiffin from our homes was full of joy", tweeted chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan after the meeting and posted a photograph on his twitter page.

Later, briefing reporters about the meeting, Niti Aayog vice chairman Arvind Panagariya also said the prime minister wants that "we should think of January-December financial year as this is appropriate from the point of view of farmers". "The next budget session will start in January". "The next budget will be presented in December this year or January 2018", he added. Prior to that, India's financial year was from May to April. Now, that India has no such constraints, it makes sense to switch to the January-December cycle.
