Spicer: White House 'looking into' libel laws

Human rights advocates and foreign policy experts condemned President Trump's comment Monday that he'd be "honored" to meet with North Korea's Kim Jong Un - saying it undermines global efforts to isolate one of the world's most brutal dictators.

President Donald Trump says he'd be open to meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, under the right circumstances.

Trump has said that, along some parts of the country's southern border, fencing might be more appropriate than a giant concrete-and-steel wall.

Just last week, Trump told Reuters: "There is a chance that we could end up having a major, major conflict with North Korea".

"We've got to see their provocative behaviour ratcheted down immediately". Centrist GOP members have expressed concerns about the addition, because many health-policy analysts say it could undermine protections for people with preexisting conditions.

During his daily briefing, White House press secretary Sean Spicer had an interesting exchange with Breitbart reporter Charlie Spiering about the size of Donald Trump's planned wall along the border between the United States and Mexico.

"Pyongyang has been playing off Beijing and Moscow for half a century, letting them compete for the right to aid and influence North Korea".

Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who clearly has the toughest job in Washington, has already had to walk back the comment about raising the gas tax.

"What the president is signaling is that there is always an opportunity to talk, but that is very far from saying there are no preconditions", Carafano said.

In the deal, President Trump secured increased funding for the military and border security, but Capitol Hill Democrats won on several fronts, including retaining funding for Planned Parenthood and increasing funding to agencies the president wanted to cut.

"North Korea does not care about China's pressure or sanctions because there is Russian Federation next door", said Leonid Petrov, a North Korea expert at Australia National University, told Reuters. "And I think that's frankly what the president was doing".

As a way to get official clarification of those remarks, New York Times correspondent Glenn Thrush asked Spicer during Monday's press briefing if it was a "project that is now being working on by the [White House Counsel's Office]" and what the general status of the effort might be.

The White House spokesman also defended the decision of the US President to meet his Philippines counterpart Rodrigo Duterte.

"I think that's the view of the Federal Bureau of Investigation".

"I'm not going to get ahead of their discussions".

The comment was the latest from Trump striking a more conciliatory tone in what had seemed an escalating standoff over North Korea's stepped-up missile tests and nuclear ambitions.

Some academics have argued that Kim Jong-un could be looking for Russian Federation to ease any pain if China steps up sanctions against North Korea.

Obama canceled a meeting with Duterte on the sidelines of an overseas summit previous year after the Philippine leader offered a coarse insult when asked his response to USA concerns about the drug crackdown.
