Melissa McCarthy adds spice (and Spicer) as host of 'SNL'

After teasing Melissa McCarthy's return as Sean Spicer in several promos, "Saturday Night Live" did not disappoint. In one sketch, set in the White House press briefing room, "SNL" cast member Aidy Bryant plays deputy White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

You could say the show began even before it went live coast-to-coast for the first time on Saturday. But I get two scoops, OK? After he spent several minutes Tuesday night hiding in the bushes from reporters following President Donald Trump's firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, White House rumors suggested Trump might be about to ax his top comms chief.

It was later corrected to say Spicer was "among" the bushes, not "in" the bushes. "How do we know?"

Overall, I would trade all the jokes that Trump and his team have supplied to comedians for a different presidential administration. Spicer asked Trump after tracking him down.

"Can you just do this full time?" the press pool reporters plead. When words aren't enough, McCarthy turns to a Russian nesting doll to explain the White House's rank and file.

Kellyanne Conway, who was also mocked on SNL over the weekend in the cold open, is speaking out about that notorious eye roll made by Anderson Cooper during her explanation of Comey's firing. When McCarthy's Spicer finally confronted Baldwin's Trump, the press secretary asked, "Have you ever told me to say things that aren't true?"

The reports spawned many humorous memes on Facebook, and Kadonaga, 49 who teaches geography at the University of Victoria, says that with her hometown being world renowned for its greenery, she decided that one of its bushes would make the flawless place for Spicer to hang out - so to speak. Driven to ease his insecurity, the press secretary leaves the briefing in search of his boss. His journey ends at a NY golf course where he asks Baldwin-as-Trump: "Have you ever told me to say things that aren't true?" After being asked by reporters repeatedly about if he was going to be fired, an increasingly agitated "Spicer" declared, "I got to find Trump".

McCarthy's Spicer and Baldwin's Trump flirted, with Trump tickling Spicer and Spicer declaring he had a wife.

"Wait - is this like "The Godfather" where you kiss me and no one ever sees me again?"
