'Wonder Woman' lassos $11 million Thursday night

And although there's something to be said whenever critics and moviegoers are in agreement these days, it's always pleasing to hear whenever onscreen talent express appreciation in genre films. In recent years DC has seen Marvel take the lead in making great superhero movies; it hasn't been since Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" that a DC film has been critically acclaimed, but this film may change that. No, I'm not talking about her scene-stealing turn as Wonder Woman in the super messy Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice; I'm talking about her work in the Fast and Furious franchise. In an interview with CinemaBlend, producer Charles Roven has stated that "the future of Wonder Woman" is defined by the results of the current film.

More than 75 years after debuting in the pages of All Star Comics #8, Wonder Woman is now the star of her own feature film.

The action scenes throughout the film work well with the combination of CGI and wonderful panoramic locations; it makes the film seem realistic and manages to make you feel as if they really were in the early 1900s. The Wonder Woman movie will put all that chatter to rest. Are there any iconic comic book storylines that you'd suggest DC turn to for the focus of a sequel film? And that could come from any direction.

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is going to have a big weekend.

Wonder Woman certainly impressed Thursday night at the box office, drawing in $11 million, a record for a female-directed movie. Gadot's Wonder Woman can be seen next in this November's Justice League. "W.O.W. It is a superhero movie like none I have ever seen".

Wonder Woman is out in theaters today.

Wonder Woman is on track to make more than $100 million domestically in its opening weekend, and with stellar reviews nearly across the board it seems likely that it'll get a sequel. Let us know your thoughts down below in the comments.
