Alberta fighter Tim Hague dies following boxing match in Edmonton

Hague lost the fight by a knockout. He passed away Sunday, June 18th.

A little more than seven years later, tears flowed again among Hague's family and many friends. "This is what he loved doing", he said. He was knocked down five times in the first two rounds before the fight was stopped.

Valimaki said the match should have ended before the last punch knocked out Hague. His sister, Jackie Neil, confirmed Sunday that the 34-year-old, who was knocked out and suffered a brain hemorrhage, had died, the CBC reports.

Braidwood's camp declined to comment on Hague's death. Hague had a Bachelor of Arts from Augustana University College and an Elementary Education degree from the University of Alberta.

Besides competitive fighting, Hague was a teacher. Since seeing the fight, there was actually, he was down four times in the first round.

He fought under the UFC banner between 2009 and 2011, racking up one win and four losses. Hague made his professional boxing debut in December of 2011, scoring a stoppage win over Patrick Graham.

He switched to boxing after his final pro MMA fight in July 2016.

Hague was in critical condition on Saturday and Sunday morning until he passed away just after 1:30 p.m., CTV News reported.

Back from his vacation, Hague took on Hackert in a rematch.

Hague was born in Boyle, Alberta, Canada, in May 1983 and died in Edmonton, where the fight against Braidwood took place.
