Witness on AirAsia flight: Plane was shaking like a washing machine

An Air Asia flight en route to Kuala Lumpar has been forced to return to Perth over a technical issue with the aircraft.

"The pilot identified technical issues, turned around and returned", an airport spokesman said, adding that emergency crews were put on standby but were not needed.

Stevens said the Sunday morning flight out of Perth began to shake rapidly after they heard a "huge bang" about 75 minutes into the flight, which should have taken the Airbus 330 about six hours.

Earlier, AFP quoted one of the passengers as saying the plane was "shaking like a washing machine".

One person posted a video of the plane shaking on Instagram, where the user @maesaya wrote, "I thought I might die".

The flight landed safely in Perth airport at 10am.

The flight crew advised passengers to "say a prayer", passenger Sophie Nicolas told the outlet.

The 359 passengers aboard flight D7237 departed Perth, Australia just before 7 a.m. local time, an AirAsia X Berhad spokesperson confirmed in a statement to the Daily News. No one was hurt during the incident.

"The safety of our guests are our utmost priority", AirAsia said.

Mr Parry said the most frightening time was the minutes the passengers were in the brace position as the plane came in to land, as they could not see what was happening.

He praised the pilot, who shook hands with everyone after the flight was over.

After the plane landed safely, everyone on board applauded the pilots.

"It was really shaky, very scary", the passenger, Damien Stevens, said, according to CNN.

"Our survival depends on you co-operating, and hopefully everything will turn out for the best", the pilot nervously told them.
