High School Grads Don Bikinis for Power Plant Internship

When it came time for a Czech nuclear power station to choose its summer interns, they chose to host a bikini contest.

The company posted 10 images of high school graduates dressed in swimsuits and posing in the Temlin nuclear power plants' cooling tower. The victor was to be given a 14-day internship at the plant and the title "Bouncer of Energy", per 9News.

From there, the company posted the photos on its Facebook page and asked its followers to vote for their favorite candidate, with the most popular winning a 14-day internship at the plant.

The woman who garnered the most votes was to be given the title "Miss Energy 2017" as well as the chance for a two-week internship with the company.

Now the plant, the largest energy producer in the Czech Republic, has ignited a backlash against what critics have called a "sexist" and "scandalous" recruitment process, with the company forced to apologise.

"You find the number of likes under half-naked picture of a young lady as adequate and/or tasteful criterion for a career opportunity that is promoted as 'professional?'" one person commented.

"We think photographs are very tasteful", the company stated in a comment under the post.

CEZ claimed all the women enjoyed taking part in the contest. However, CEZ eventually took the Facebook post down, and apologized. And all the 10 finalists were offered the internship.

A CEZ spokesman told CNET, "We did not want anyone to feel upset. However, if the original vision raised doubts or concerns, we are very sorry about it". The objective of the competition was to introduce a non-traditional environment and support technical education.
