NASCAR at Daytona results: Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wins Coke Zero 400

There was also damage on the right-front fender acquired during any one of the race's 14 caution periods. This is awesome. I've been coming here since 2008.

Stenhouse, who was fifth a year ago in the race, had not won a series race until earlier this season at Talladega.

"This validates what we did at Talladega".

"We have been working hard at Roush Fenway and this pushes us further along".

It was a tough night for the Fords of Team Penske. Clint Bowyer finishes second and Paul Menard rounds out the top three by finishing the third tonight.

"Wow, what a night".

Ragan got the jump, but only made it to the backstretch before Jones, Jamie McMurray, Elliott and Hamlin wrecked to send the race into overtime. "The bridesmaid thing sucks but second is better than third", he opined afterward. "I want to first off thank all the troops that have fallen for our country, for our freedom". Ricky Stenhouse Jr. swiped his second win in overtime, surprising a packed house full of race fans.

"I had a 4th of July party planned". I guess I used it all up the lap before. "Just really had nowhere to go".

Ragan scored a top-10 finish at Talladega earlier this year, the other plate track.

Kyle Larson continues to hold on to the points lead after the halfway point of the season. NASCAR's most popular driver felt like his right rear tire was going flat as he entered a turn, started to slow and then brushed the wall and flattened the right front tire.

Stenhouse's last win came in May at the Geico 500. Earnhardt is on the pole for the event.

After going two laps down early because of a tire problem, Earnhardt eventually got back on the lead lap and raced back into the top 10 before being part of a five-car wreck that brought out the ninth caution of the race around lap 106.

Harvick was critical of the tires after the accident, saying he felt vibrations twice during the race and didn't think it was anything else in the auto. There were more than a dozen cautions - a new record for this race - affecting 27 drivers in the Coke Zero 400.

Of the 40 cars that started Saturday's race, only 25 finished.

The final 26 laps were a frantic sprint to the finish with one big pause.

Quotable: "I give us an "A" for the night".

Ragan got a big shove from his Ford teammate, pushing him a few vehicle lengths ahead of the field.

"I zigged when I should have zagged", Ragan said.

David Ragan is known for his restrictor plate abilities.

The stoppage came about due to a crash involving points leader Kyle Larson with seven scheduled laps remaining.
