Chelsea tipped to table bid for Real Madrid man

That's according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

As SunSport exclusively revealed in January, the Real Madrid ace is Antonio Conte's ideal striker. The Premier League champions have been forced to re-think their attacking strategy this summer after Manchester United snatched first choice Romelu Lukau from under their noses.

Lukaku, the Belgian striker, looked set for a return to Stamford Bridge from Everton, but Jose Mourinho's United convinced the 24-year-old to choose Old Trafford instead, in a deal believed to be worth more than £75 million ($97 million).

The Evening Standard claim Chelsea have now reignited their interest in Morata after opening talks with Madrid and are hoping to wrap-up a £70m deal over the coming days.

United made it clear that they would not be pursuing their interest in Morata after confirming they had a deal for Lukaku, leaving the striker who has made it clear he wants to leave Spain for the Premier League in a tricky position.

The reigning European champions want to free up funds to make a world-record bid for Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Conte was the mastermind behind his move from Real Madrid to Juventus in 2014.

Meanwhile, Morata now earns £100,000-a-week at Real Madrid.

So, with Conte missing out on Lukaku and ousting Costa, his only striking options at Stamford Bridge are Michy Batshuayi or academy players.
