Frontier Airlines adds Cleveland-to-Miami service starting in October

Airline officials said nonstop service between Pensacola and the airline's hub at Denver International Airport would begin in the spring of 2018.

Customers also can opt into joining Frontier's Discount Den subscription for $49.99 a year, which gives fliers access to even lower-cost fares, among several other perks.

"We project this will save our customers over a billion dollars annually on their flights", Biffle added.

One customer explained on Facebook how a route she had booked past year was cancelled three days prior to the airline's announcement of its new route expansion, while another complained about rising prices.

Frontier will operate the new routes with Airbus A320 aircraft. Tickets to Denver and Austin are now on sale, while trips to Chicago will be available in spring 2018. And Frontier will add a new flight between West Palm Beach and Long Island. Frontier, along with the Florida-based Spirit, has spearheaded the growth of the ULCC in the United States - prompting major legacy carriers to adapt with new products such as basic economy fares.

In June 2016 Richard Oliver, a spokesman for Frontier Airlines, told The Oklahoman the airline couldn't rule out a return to Oklahoma City.

Mayor Hayward welcomed today's announcement and is looking forward to working with Frontier Airlines. As part of an expansion to 21 new cities, the airline will offer flights between Jacksonvillle and Denver and Cincinnati.

Frontier's new daily nonstop flights from Milwaukee to Miami begin on October 5.

Frontier's announcement did not specify the number of flight frequencies in its new markets (but it's schedules are notoriously thin, which means problems when flights are cancelled).

The new flights will begin this fall and will be fully scheduled by next summer, though only six destinations start service before March.
