West Ham United confirm Javier Hernandez agreement

An official club statement announced the news this evening.

West Ham United have confirmed they have an agreement to sign Javier Hernandez, who is Mexico's all-time leading goalscorer, from Bayer Leverkusen.

With Andy Carroll continually injured, the Hammers have been in desperate need of a regular goal scorer for a number of seasons.

Hernandez has the fifth best minutes per goal ratio in Premier League history.

Meanwhile, Austria forward Marko Arnautovic is due to have a medical on Friday afternoon after West Ham agreed a deal with Stoke City.

However, he has now chose to return to the Premier League and join West Ham, after the club reportedly activated the £13million release clause in his contract.

Hernandez will undergo a medical on Monday and if all goes well will be unveiled as a Hammers player the following day.

He told bwin: "You can look at his goal-scoring record wherever he has played and £13m is a snip". He scored 39 goals in 76 matches for the "Werkself".

The deal will cost West Ham around £4.5 million in total, with the goalkeeper set to earn £2.5 million in annual salary. "Everything is good and strong, but some of them (other clubs) are really strong on the market, so it is going to be hard".

The new signings will make a huge difference but Lanzini will be pulling the midfield strings.
