Iran vows 'decisive response' to U.S. sanctions bill

Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said Wednesday President Trump's approach toward its domestic and foreign policies will ultimately weaken the United States both on the internal and global scenes.

The new legislation, passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on July 25, would impose mandatory penalties on people involved in Iran's ballistic missile program and anyone who does business with them.

The Trump administration is pushing for inspections of suspicious Iranian military sites in a bid to test the strength of the nuclear deal that President Donald Trump desperately wants to cancel, senior US officials said. "And we will take any other step that we deem necessary in line with the interests of our country, and we would continue our path without paying attention to their sanctions and policies".

Besides, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said Wednesday that the U.S. Congress bill against Iran will jeopardize the implementation of the JCPOA.

While many believe that the new USA sanctions on Iran appeared at odds with global law, an Iranian expert suggests that the United States is seeking to make Tehran alter its political behavior through imposing fresh sanctions. The bill should be approved by the Senate and signed by the president in order to become legal.

The Iranian parliament's national security and foreign affairs committee said it would hold an extraordinary session on Saturday to discuss its formal response.

"That's why it is incompatible with various sections of the JCPOA which the U.S. has committed to implement with good intention and in a constructive atmosphere", the ISNA news agency quoted him as saying.

Ninety days after his inauguration, Trump's administration certified to Congress - as required by the 2015 Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act (INARA) - that Iran was complying with the deal.

"You would have thought when that deal was made by Secretary [of State John] Kerry - maybe the worst negotiator I've ever seen - you would have thought that Iran would have said, 'Thank you, United States".

Jazayeri said that Iranian armed forces, heedless of US pressures, "will push their ways to reach the peaks of progress and will make it (the United States) regret its mischievous acts".
