Facebook Watch will not only give its users the ability to watch and follow shows on the platform itself but will also present the creators with an opportunity to monetize their content and gain a wider audience. Facebook is launching a new video service which will see the social network giant pitted against YouTube and Amazon.

Whether it's live or recorded, all of the video content in this new section will be referred to as a Show. They're likely to be concerned about Facebook's sheer monster-sized scale: it has two billion monthly active users.
The video tab has been available on Facebook for quite a time, but it displayed clips by amateurs or short videos by news agencies. There will also be a section that showcases popular videos, as well as trends like "What Made People Laugh" - which will list videos that got the most "Haha" reaction in a given time frame.
"We believe it's possible to rethink a lot of experiences through the lens of building community - including watching video", saidFacebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Facebook is already broadcasting some Major League Baseball games and that would continue, the company said.
The company noted that Watch is a platform for all creators and publishers to find an audience, build a community of passionate fans, and earn money for their work.
