Oakland Raiders CB Sean Smith Arrested On Assault Charge

An arrest warrant was issued for Sean Smith charging him with one count of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, and one count of battery with serious bodily injury.

L.A. County jail records indicate that the 30-year-old cornerback was released after posting $80,000 bail later in the day Thursday and is slated to be arraigned on September 29 in Pasadena.

Smith faces up to seven years in prison.

The Raiders did not immediately respond to a request for comment. "Be safe. Make good decisions".

"I think the time we had here and the first game the other night, I think he has done a little more, done enough to be in the second slot", Del Rio said. Just don't take any liberties.

Daniel Rosenberg told ESPN's Josina Anderson that Smith "maintains his innocence" and that he will plead not guilty.

Smith's lawyer naturally refutes the charges and insists his client is innocent.

After being rewarded with a handsome five-year deal worth $125 million in the offseason, Carr is poised to lead the Raiders to another playoff run this season.

Oakland Raiders' Sean Smith (21) intercepts a pass intended for San Diego Chargers' Travis Benjamin (12) in the first quarter of their National Football League game at the Coliseum in Oakland, Calif., on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016.
