Watch U2's Video Performance of a New Song From Their Upcoming Album

After releasing a teaser on their Facebook page Tuesday and sending cryptic letters to random fans, U2 dropped a new song, "The Blackout", on its Facebook page Wednesday at noon ET - although it is apparently not the real single. That will be You're The Best Thing About Me, which U2 said in social media posts would come out on Sept 6 along with more details on the album.

"Songs of Experience", whose release date has not been announced, is a sequel with apparently grown-up themes to 2014's "Songs of Innocence", which reflected heavily on frontman Bono's childhood in suburban Dublin. "We had it all and what we had is not coming back, Zack".

The band is now wrapping its "Joshua Tree" 30th anniversary tour and are expected to tour behind the new album next year.

Titled Songs Of Experience, the next record seeks to wipe away some of the bad vibes that dogged the band after they uploaded their last record involuntarily to everyone who owned an iPhone.

Dave told the Irish Sun: "New U2 stuff always excites me because its great hearing new stuff from a band you love".

"I had a listen to it at Bono's house and it's not unlike Songs of Innocence, or the Joshua Tree". But with a band that has been putting out music for over 40 years, that is to be expected. One of them, "The Blackout", started streaming today.
