Chris Johnson may be re-signed by Cardinals

However, the latest news is positive for the Cardinals and anxious fantasy owners, with Johnson potentially back for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Behind Johnson, the Cardinals have the trio of Kerwynn Williams, Andre Ellington and Elihjaa Penny. Johnson went down after he was hit by three players on the reception. He ran the ball 11 times for a total of just 23 yards, averaging only 2.1 yards per carry.

Johnson was dynamic in 2016, earning a place at the Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro recognition, but it may not make sense to rush him back so early in the season.

He was hoping to chase history again in 2017, after finishing last season 121 yards from becoming just the third National Football League player in history to gain 1000 rushing and receiving yards.

Re-signing Chris Johnson, who was cut on September 2, could be an option, Arians said.

Jared Veldheer spent all offseason preparing for his new role as a right tackle with the Arizona Cardinals.

Backup offensive lineman John Wetzel replaced Humphries. He was diagnosed with a sprained wrist and underwent further testing Monday.

"I have all the confidence (in other backs)".

Arians said the team's first-round draft pick, Haason Reddick, was outstanding in his start at inside linebacker.

In a radio interview after his press conference, Arians explained a bit more: "He wants to find a way to play".

Detroit outscored Arizona 20-6 in the final period.
