Windows Insiders get access to mobile Microsoft Edge and Launcher app

Microsoft on Thursday announced expanding its Edge browser to the mobile platform.

Microsoft has updated the Skype Preview to the version 8.8.76.61480. You can also save web pages on Edge for mobile to open them anywhere later, including a PC.

This is made possible by Microsoft's "Continue to PC" feature that is included in the Edge web browser.

Now here we are with Edge having recently marked its second birthday as part of Windows 10 and right on the verge of the fourth major feature update being released on 17 October 2017 - most of you already know it as the Fall Creators Update. Apart from the browser, Microsoft also launched a launcher for Android.

Arrow Launcher, one of the most popular launcher apps for Android devices has now been re-branded as Microsoft Launcher. For Android users, it will be available soon via Play Store's early access. Because extensions interact so closely with the browser, we have been very attuned to the security, performance, and reliability of Microsoft Edge with these extensions enabled. For now, we will just have to wait and see since Microsoft is focused on just getting the iOS and Android apps out first.

It comes with a Hub View that allows you to easily find and manage content such as reading list, history, and favourites, among others. You can also customize the colors, background, etc and it also has a Continue on PC option for your photos, documents, etc. However, the initial build supports only English language and is yet to get many other features.

"Android phones have a feature that iPhones don't - they allow customization of the "launcher" that's displayed when you push the phone's home button". The rebranding of the Arrow Launcher will further increase Microsoft's presence in the Android Ecosystem. The launcher is based on Microsoft's Fluent Design and is customisable. People using Arrow Launcher Beta will get the launcher today, and once it is out of preview, users will be automatically upgraded to it. Just swipe to the right and you'll see the important information that you need like events, top news, recent activities, recently used apps, and the people that you added as your Favorites.
